Our standards for publishing with AI

We want readers to know when and how AI helped make our articles.

Dan Cumberland Labs uses AI throughout our research and writing process. It helps our small team study more questions, compare more sources, and share more of what we learn.

## What AI helps us do

AI does substantial work in many articles, including research, outlining, drafting, editing, and illustration. We built separate checks into the process for source quality, factual claims, technical accuracy, and voice. We send weak or unsupported work back for revision before we publish it.

## Our responsibility

Dan Cumberland Labs takes responsibility for every article we publish, and the byline names the person accountable for the finished piece.

We link sources where they support a claim, and we correct errors when we find them.

## How we make images

We create each featured illustration in Gemini, then apply our halftone treatment, colors, typography, and layout. The credit beneath each featured image names both Dan Cumberland Labs and Gemini.
